We used to have this thread in the old garden, thought it would be good to see it again.

Self explanatory really, lyrics that mean something to you.

"I've looked around enough to know,

You're the one I want to go through time with"

- Jim Croce "Time In A Bottle"

I am the one in ten, a number on a list;

I am the one in ten, even though I don't exist;

Nobody knows me, although I'm really there;

A statistical reminder of a world that doesn't care.

One in Ten - UB40

Rang a lot of bells with me, oh so many years ago, and unfortunately is still true today.

On a much lighter note, this is another of my faves:

But when darkness hits the town,

and there's washing on your line,

Get your knickers down,

before the dreaded sign,

When the clock strikes - eight,

and you're snuggled up in bed,

He'll be at the garden gate,

filling underwear with dread.

In the Middle of the Night - Madness

Just because it's funny, and always makes me smile!

Somewhere over the rainbow

Way up high

There's a land that I heard of

Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow

Skies are blue

And the dreams that you dare to dream

Really do come true

Some day I'll wish upon a star

And wake up where the clouds are far behind me

Where troubles melt like lemondrops

Away above the chimney tops

That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow

Bluebirds fly

Birds fly over the rainbow

Why then, oh why can't I?

Some day I'll wish upon a star

And wake up where the clouds are far behind me

Where troubles melt like lemondrops

Away above the chimney tops

That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow

Bluebirds fly

Birds fly over the rainbow

Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly

Beyond the rainbow

Why, oh why can't I?

Always makes me cry - I am a huge Judy Garland fan and love the Wizard Of Oz :)

I feel it in my fingers

I feel it in my toes

The love is all around me

And so the feeling grows

It's written on the wind

It's everywhere I go

So if you really love me

Come on and let it show

You know I love you, I always will

My mind's made up by the way that I feel

There's no beginning, there'll be no end

'Cause on my love you can depend

This was in the charts about 14 years ago, & I loved it until I found out my ex- husband had been playing away, so every time it was playing after that for about 2 years, all I did was cry, because I felt that my world had crumbled. Now all it does is remind me that I'm well rid of him.

Pure genius! Always gets me ranting about injustice to the minorities!

William Zantzinger killed poor Hattie Carroll

With a cane that he twirled around his diamond ring finger

At a Baltimore hotel society gath'rin'.

And the cops were called in and his weapon took from him

As they rode him in custody down to the station

And booked William Zantzinger for first-degree murder.

But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,

Take the rag away from your face.

Now ain't the time for your tears.

William Zantzinger, who at twenty-four years

Owns a tobacco farm of six hundred acres

With rich wealthy parents who provide and protect him

And high office relations in the politics of Maryland,

Reacted to his deed with a shrug of his shoulders

And swear words and sneering, and his tongue it was snarling,

In a matter of minutes on bail was out walking.

But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,

Take the rag away from your face.

Now ain't the time for your tears.

Hattie Carroll was a maid of the kitchen.

She was fifty-one years old and gave birth to ten children

Who carried the dishes and took out the garbage

And never sat once at the head of the table

And didn't even talk to the people at the table

Who just cleaned up all the food from the table

And emptied the ashtrays on a whole other level,

Got killed by a blow, lay slain by a cane

That sailed through the air and came down through the room,

Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle.

And she never done nothing to William Zantzinger.

But you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,

Take the rag away from your face.

Now ain't the time for your tears.

In the courtroom of honor, the judge pounded his gavel

To show that all's equal and that the courts are on the level

And that the strings in the books ain't pulled and persuaded

And that even the nobles get properly handled

Once that the cops have chased after and caught 'em

And that the ladder of law has no top and no bottom,

Stared at the person who killed for no reason

Who just happened to be feelin' that way without warnin'.

And he spoke through his cloak, most deep and distinguished,

And handed out strongly, for penalty and repentance,

William Zantzinger with a six-month sentence.

Oh, but you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears,

Bury the rag deep in your face

For now's the time for your tears.
