We recently got a new gas supply fitted to our home ,

we live in a FLAT 3 up and paid £600 for the install which was for 9 metres of steel piping , now the 2 houses below us have had new gas supply fitted which comes off our pipe and which probs cost them alot less than us ,

what i want to know is who owns the pipe , us or the gas company,

our receipt states on it to supply and lay 9 metres of piping

and if anyone wants a spa from our gas pipe do they need to ask us

All gas piping from your meter outwards belong's to the national grid, No they dont need your permission to take a sprue off the pipeline as it doesnt belong to you.

Why not ask your neibours how much they paid for connection fees?

What your recipt means is you paid £600 to have a gas supply installed and for the labour involved with the new gas distribution. No have no legal ownership of the pipe nor any rights to allow or dissallow others to utillise your distro.

Sorry I hope that helps,, I know it aint positive but maybe you should have spoken to your neibours and mentioned it and come up with a price for all 3 flats to be connected as im sure that would have significantly reduced All your costs.
