Which bank would be the best of them to have a joint account with?

We would like a proper bank (not ex building society). It can not be Alliance and Leicester, Abbey, HSBC or LLoyds.

We appear to be running banks. :D Really must stop claiming against them.

So which Bank would you choose and why?

They are already on your exclusion list by association but I have found First Direct good to bank with, their internet banking is really easy to use, they bank in 'real time' (not debits first credits second to suit their charges) and I always find their staff really great to deal with on the phone - oh and they just promised me my charges back :D

I love First Direct but due to ID theft and someone repeatedly taking loans and accounts out in my name from First Direct, In a fit of anger I told them never ever to open an account in my name and I would never use their services. The fraud police were involved and now am with CIFAS. I very much doubt First direct would let me have an account!

Oh dear so have I alienated and excluded the only decent banks left?

I'm sure all the other banks have some satisfied customers  I do have an account with the co-op, my only gripe with them was £3k worth of charges over 3 years for accounts I didn't even use! they gave it me back easily enough but are still refusing to give me a debit card - even though the charges more than paid off the balance!

I would certainly vote for the co-op as the best of a bad lot, although I was'nt previously aware of the £15 per day O/L charge.

Lets face it, they're all just as bad as each other. Its just that a couple are really bad!
