Sections 57 and 72 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 prevent firms from “contracting out” their liability so that customers have to pay extra for what should be covered anyway, or from increasing liability using another contract — for example one that says a parcel will be guaranteed to be delivered and not damaged. Customers are entitled to refunds if firms fail to carry out their obligation to deliver a package.
