My smart meter has stopped communicating with my supplier, so when i top up online it doesn't credit the meter, so i must enter the UTRN on my IHD to add the credit. It got me thinking about how this works. If the meter isn't communicating, then how does it know the code i enter is valid and worth a certain amount of credit? In theory does this mean i could employ monkeys to bash away at the ihd entering random codes that might work?
