Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister

Its probably a major reason why Brexit has failed miserably beyond even the warnings

The Brexit pigs cant fly when they wont pull their snouts out of the trough long enough to achieve something other than enriching themselves, and all we ever see is the other end.

Taxpayer paid MP and paid more lobbyist Owen Patterson told sky news he:

More from D(r)owning (in sleeze) street:

Boris Johnson has admitted receiving a free holiday at a luxurious Spanish villa linked to Zac Goldsmith.

The property is marketed online for rentals, reportedly for as much as £25,000 a week

The register said: “The prime minister has a longstanding personal friendship with the Goldsmith family and, in that capacity, in October 2021 stayed in a holiday home in southern Spain which was provided free of charge by the Goldsmiths.

Johnson awarded (his  'longstanding personal friend') Goldsmith a peerage after the latter lost his Richmond seat in 2019, and allowed him to keep his job as an environment minister.

Not just that HB, ALL the sleaze including PPE and awarding contracts to incompetent and not properly authorsied testin centers - let alone Johnson unlawfully proroguing parliament and lying at the dispatch box

It remains an attempt to get the sleaze investigations under sleazy liar Johnsons control

Paterson was just an excuse to try it on - if chancer Johnson got away with it - then win win.

The battle is still on.

I see that at long last there is real pressure for an independent investigation in cash for lobbying, cash for contracts,  and cash for peerages (which is undoubtedly why Paterson resigned - on the promise of a peerage when the heat died down enough)

£3million quid to the Tories _  a peerage and money from the UK taxpayer for life .. and ongoing opportunities for payments from businesses

Adding to wasted taxpayer money for a private showing of new bond film, holidays for peerages, flying from COP to a male only privileged lunch at a private club, millions to PPE pals who supply faulty recalled testing kit lobbied for by Paterson ... while Johnson says 'let the f***ing bodies pile high .....  the list literally goes on and on

Add to that the reports that the populist whips threatened 'new' Tory MP's with them losing funding for their constituencies if they didn't vote as demanded

Blackmail? Further misuse of taxpayer funds?,  both +corruption?

and with reports that Frost is just stiring up trouble with the EU to cover for the corruption and abuses at home ..

I think its more complex than that

Johnson has nothing to lose and no morals. I think he's been looking to be kicked out for some time so he can walk away from the chaos he has generated

So If he starts a trade war with the EU he might think that

a) he can cover for his abuses, corruption and incompetence at home

I think he is wrong. The EU will completely cut off the UK while minimising the impact to the island of Ireland, so the main damage will be further damage to UK businesses - but Johnson has demonstrated he doesn't give a damn about that

b) The likely real fall back of a trade war with the EU

The UK will have little option but to bring forward all the changes Johnson wants for trade (what will we trade?) with the pacific region and start shipping in hormone injected and bleached chicken, beef and GM crops from America and Australia under 'emergency measures'

All of which will place the Uk as a powerless suplicant of the US, worse than we ever were @ WWII

No doubt he will try to include options in his 'emergency measures' to prevent Scotland and NI from seceding from the union.

Now this quote is one that Johnson and Frost should listen to

I think those ideas which are meant to make life easier on the business community in Northern Ireland, especially on the citizens on the island of Ireland, should be embraced by the British government, rather than talking about red lines.”

briefly back to Paterson questions for cash:

"Mr Paterson would have been found to have broken the rules under any process that we create and we should not kid ourselves on that front.”

- Mark Fletcher, Conservative MP for Bolsover, and one of the MPs on the Standards Committee ... to Parliament

Its likely Johnsons plot was to drag out jury rigging a new 'standards committee' until the next election and give Paterson a seat in the house of Lords before it was done as a side benefit to his own protection from standards.

Is Rabb and Johnson throwing the whips to the dogs?

.. or is that (more likely ) Rabb set up ... with Johnson standing back ready to throw Rabb to the dogs should it backfire?

Sounds a bit dicey ... go for it

  • Dominic Raab has not denied that threats may have been made to revoke the constituency funding of Tory MPs who were minded to rebel against the government in the Owen Paterson lobbying row.
  • The deputy prime minister and justice secretary said spending decisions were not affected by the votes of individual MPs but was unable to rule out reports that the threats were made.

Tom Newton-Dunn of Times Radio: “Two different backbench Tory MPs tell me they have been approached by whips in the last 24 hours to tell them the Chief, Mark Spencer, was NOT the instigator of last week’s disastrous motion, but he was following direct orders from the prime minister. It means government whips have (officially or not) begun actively briefing against No 10”

Duhh - of course Johnson was the instigator of the motion ..

. the question is who was the instigator of the threat to withhold funds from MP's constituencies

Johnson of course will whoolly word a denial whether he did instigate it or not,

but the second question iswill the chief whip, or someone from Johnsons office take the fall - or will they all just try and ignore answering to the potentially criminal act of threatening the withholding of taxpayer money

and lets not forget that some of Johnsons demands were too much even for Cox as attorney general - so prime meat to be thrown to the dogs as a (valid) distraction
