Hi,

BT have put a default on my Credit file on 23/03/2010. Yet it shows settled on the same day 23/03/2010

How can I Default & settle on the same day? Do I have any grounds to request Equifax/BT to remove this?

I've attached a photo to show in more detail

Any Help/Advise would be appreciated

Thanks in advanced :)

You will have to give as much more detail. You will have to tell us what happened. Did you owe BT any money?

Let me warn you that they would rather cut the legs of their own grannies and eat them than change anything on a customer's credit file.

they do that when they put the debt on a phishing list

for a debt buyer to purchase.

why do you think it should not be there?

did you not owe them money?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi thanks for your reply,

From memory it was BT Landline which was switched over to Sky Talk but didn't seem to get cancelled on BT's side. I don't remember receiving any letters from BT but I may be wrong (4 years ago now) But I did receive a letter from DCA and I paid it off.

I was expecting to see it say settled last year which was when I paid it but it has the same date as the default.

Anyway this could work in my favour and I could get it removed?

paying a debt off does not remove the default.

is that payment showing in the payment history?

Correct,

But as the settled date is same as the default date do I have any grounds that I could dispute this with Equifax?

Perhaps saying that I settled the account on the day they issued a default and it's a mistake by BT?

clutching at straws here but I would like to give it a shot.

What you see in the attached picture is what I see.

when an OC sells a debt

they put the bal to £0

and register the default.

that's std practice for years,

went he debt is purchased

the debt balance reappears under the debt buyers name.
