Years ago I had a debt at uni with barclaycard.

Mckenzie hall pursued me and I went through a whole performance proving it was statute barred and so on and so forth.

Then cabot started sending my elderly mum letters saying i was at that address.

she saw them off after involving the police

Now cabot have sent me a letter about the debt

What is the quickest easiest way to see them off ?

We all know its unacknowledged and statute barred.

There is a prove it letter isn't there?

When I sent that to mh they provided a copy of the orig agreement, then I told them it was sb and it ended

For clarification: Stat Barred = 6 years (5 in Scotland) no payment and/or written acknowledgment of the debt.

Your choice SB letter now or prove it and start 'letter tennis'.

Oh it's def sb, do you think just phoning them would work? That's what finally stopped them harassing my mum about me after numerous letters

NO, never deal with this by phone!!

The OFT Guidance on Debt Collection on SB debts is:

The OFT considers it unfair to press for payment ( of an SB debt) once the debtor has informed the creditor/DCA IN WRITTING that the debt is statute barred.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, they tried calling me yesterday, it was a bit sneaky. I ignored the 0845 number. Got a voicemail that was incoherent , then it said , 'press 5 for a pack' . Wondered if doing that makes you culpable in some way?

No reply from the letter yet, I sent it last Monday. Do they have a time limit?

I've got another letter ignoring my letter, saying I should contact them ASAP. It's now got a specific cabot reference.

The original letter I've sent is recorded but just says its in royal mails system?

Ill re send my original letter shall I ?

Cheers
