What happens if youre on jobseekers and have broken your foot(on crutches, not walking for 8 weeks etc). Still entitled to payments? Have to show up fortnightly to sign?

Appreciate any advice.

You should make a claim for ESA if you are not fit for work for more than a two week period, JCP should tell you this anyway.

Your GP or consultant at the hospital should issue you with a fit note for the expected 8 week period of recovery for your broken bones. In this even you can notify the JCP office and declare a period of temporary sickness (on form JSA28 which will be posted out to you for completion) for a maximum of 2 weeks and then claim ESA for the remainder or your can close your JSA claim tomorrow (if not done today!) and claim ESA straight away.

It's entirely up to you and what ever you feel will cause less hassle in the long run.
