Rossendales collect Help please anyone,

My wife has just had a letter from Rossendales Collect demanding £2374 for a credit card debt . This debt has been bouncing around various DCA's for a couple of years now as none of them would admit to owning the debt , now Rossendales collect want full payment.

We have offered them £2 a month as we are paying off various other debts and don't have the spare cash for them.

They have said that we should send in a full financial statement as this is the only way they will accept this offer.

I told them that they had no right to this information but they insisted and said that they will take this further and will send a doorstep collector and told me not to be rude when I said that they can't send anyone to my house without an appointment......

What should we do now ....?

Rossendales can want on

They have absolutely no rights whatsoever.. if they do turn up on your doorstep then just ask them to go away. There is a letter in the CAG library linked at the top of each screen print that off and send one copy to them and then keep one by the door and just hand it to whoever does turn up.. if they do.

I trust you have NOT sent them a full financial statement at this time ?

Do you know if this debt has been assigned/sold to Rossendales or whether they are just collecting for the original creditor ? Who is the oriignal creditor?

Hi , thanks for the answer, they wouldn't tell me how much they paid for the debt so I'm assuming they bought the debt from Capital One but this might not be the case.

They offered me a settlement figure of £1900 which i laughed at and got "told off " for laughing at her......

They dont have to tell you how much they purchased the debt for.. but you can rest assured it was peanuts.

Did they ever send you a letter to say that they now OWNED the account this is what we need to know :)

No , its says that we failed to respond to a previous letter.....never had one , it says they are working on behalf of arrow global who purchased the debt but we didn't get any letter from them saying they now owned it.

We had a letter from Moorcroft group and Capquest , the Capquest letter says that they owned it but when I called them they didn't know anything about it.

There was also a letter from HL Legal solicitors threatening court action this was in march 2010 , havent heard from them again.

I believe HL Legal is part of CapQuest. It looks like this account has been passed from pillar to post. Very likely that Arrow Global do now own it as they are purchasing quite a of "delinquent" debt at the moment and are probably using Rossendales Collect in order to well.. collect :) However, if you have no knowledge and no one has written to you then until they do and they make themselves clear on what the account refers to and any legitimate amount owning.. then I would just wait them out.

What you could do is to have a look at your Credit Reference files to see if there is anything showing up.

Remember , rossendales collect are acting as just collectors, not bailiffs. They have no power whatsoever to demand anything off you , and if THEY call YOU on your own telephone then you have every rite to be as rude to them as you wish.

Also , when you have established if they have any rights to be collecting any money off you, You TELL them how much you will be paying them ,not ask them! (you pay what you can afford)

hello all:-)

Thankyou for the information , we know that we do owe the money , itsjust the way they are going about it that is getting my back up , I don't have the spare cash for them and have paid them £2.00 and set up a DD for £2.00 a month ........ is this the right thing to do ?

Its up to YOU, not THEM!

If £2 Per month is all you can afford to pay them then £2 per month is all they are getting isnt it?

I wouldnt set up a Direct Debit though because they can take out however much they want (i think). Set up a standing order instead.

hello all:-)

Aggghhh.. Not the Direct Debit  You need to set up a standing order.. Direct Debits can be varied.. by the recipient!! Only you can vary a standing order.
