Hello there, I purchased a BMW 320td (03 plate 68,000 miles) (£4300) from a car dealers in Sheffield about 3 months ago. I part exchanged my old car and borrowed some extra on finance. Last week my car experienced dramatic power loss and started to sound like a tractor. It transpires that something called a swirl flap came loose and was sucked into the manifold/engine. The minimum the repairs are going to cost is £2000.00, it could be nearer £4000.00 if it needs a new engine. I have tried to contact the dealer today but couldn't get a reply so I have sent them an email. I'm just wondering where I stand with this, the car came with a months warranty but obviously that has elapsed. I really don't know what to do - I cannot afford to pay £2000.00 for repairs never-mind £4000.00 and that's discounting the fact that it wouldn't be worth doing on a car of this age and mileage etc

I hope someone can offer advice on the steps I should take next?

Regards, Neil.
