Same ol story chaps

Have been stung for about 3 years due to poor cash management and shocking charges by the above. My query is that I am not sure what charges I can claim. I have gone through my statements for the past 6 years and at 1st calculation I ascertain that £2150 has been taken under the ambiguous description 'total charges'?

My concern is that this can fluctuate wildly some months this description was valaued at £36, sometimes at £72 sometimes at £80 and occasionally in 2005 £100?

During this time my overdraft was set between £1000 and £2500 though for the main at £1750. The charges I am detailing are definately not interest they are seperate on my statements and have not been included in the above.

In addition sometimes I would be £5 over sometimes £150 does this have any bearing?

I have a similar issue with MBMA though for smaller figues and guess another forum.

Please assist this hobo...cheers D:)

Hi Drink (great username btw)

I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you want to know whether you can claim all your charges back - if so then the answer is 'yes'.

Thanks though drink and socialising is probably why why financial situation is not great...and these charges!!!:D

Yup I just wanted to know whether I can claim them all, whether being differing amounts over your overdraft matters. By the way I don't think I have ever had a D/D refused? always paid by the bank though often taking me over?...hen always stung with charges the next month. Definately no letters discussing this from them?

Cheers;-)

one other question....a few months ago some guy rang me up from the bank and changed my account not sure from what until what...uselessly I don't know when this was...I would guess this was about 4 months ago??

What I have noticed is from Jan this year I have been getting a flat £50 quid a month charge...though detailed as £25 overdraft fee and £25 excess overdraft fee?....does this have any bearing on my claim?....thanks

A possible explanation could be that when they changed your account for you they upgraded it to a 'premiere account', they offered it to us too. Anyhow, the charges are less on this account but there is a fee for this account, (annual I think) Full details should be on their website.

  • 4 weeks later...

Right....continuing saga...finally sent letter to HSBC, this was on the 21st of Sept, as yet I have heard nothing back from them at all ( unless post today 10.9.06 has come whilst I'm at work ) save a load of bumpf totally unrelated regarding credit card insurance.

What should I do, follow up by phone? I know from royal mail that there were many recorded items delivered to HSBC that day, hence why I had difficulty confirming their receipt though they have had the prelim letter and as I see it done nothing?
