Hi, a few days ago i got a letter from a crowd called 1st direct. They say that if i do not respond within ten days they will assume that i am the person they are after. I am aware of a debt from around six years ago but it is vague when it occurred due to my drinking very heavily at the time. How do i find out if this is indeed a debt belonging to myself? I have no desire to contact this 1st credit crowd having read about them here. What should be my first course of action? Ought I ignore this letter? I suspect they are fishing here, and i am fairly certain the debt is statute barred but as I said, I really can`t recall exact dates.

If this is the first letter from them, I would ignore it for now, see if any future letters make it clearer what the debt relates to.

Do not tell them it may be stautue barred at this time.

If they telephone you refuse to answer their security questions and tell them to write to you.

Don't give them any personal details whatso ever as it could just be a fishing trip

Their wording is ludicrous "if you don't respond we'll assume you're the person we're after"

Dear HRH Elizabeth,

I'd rather like to be royalty. If you don't respond within 10 days I'll assume I can call myself Lady Elsa.

As above, ignore them, see what, if anything, they conjure up next

Lady Elsa x
