I had a visit by Marstons asking to speak to a relative. I told him that she had left my home 2 months ago and that I did not have a forwarding address. I think he disbelieved me and said that he would apply for a Court Order to search the premises. How can I best avoid this? Would a STATUTORY DECLARATION that this is no longer her address suffice?

He WILL NOT apply to search the premises.Complete nonsense and clearly said the worry you.....and it WORKED.

A warrant to search the premises! he's a bailiff, not a policeman!! Another example of these eejits misrepresenting their powers.

Under no circumstances let him into the house. You need to send a letter of complaint to Marstons - by recorded delivery, otherwise they will just say they didn't get it.

A Statutory Declaration would safeguard your belongings, I have affixed one to this post. Take it to a local solicitor/notary or county court to have it signed. You should then take a photocopy of it and when he calls again had it to him through the letterbox or a window. Do not open the door to him.
