Then we just support ourselves or upgrade ;). anyway latest service package on xp service pack 3 was said to carry on till 2014 which is 4 years, enough time for us all to upgrade etc..

Also remember, more and more software will start relying on the newer software within the newest windows versions, directx11 is an example.

I have got a laptop with windows 7 on it. My partner has PC with XP home professional media centre. I have not as yet made a recovery disc for windows 7 but will do so soon. What I would like to know when I made a recovery disc will my partner be able to use my revcovery disc to upgrade her XP operation system to windows 7 or will it be illegal to do this. :cool:

It would certainly violate the terms of the license, but you're not the first to do it and wont be the last. It might not activate on the second pc though.
