we have had nothing but hassle with CFO. we had a payday loan last july, and my husband lost his job shortly after, so we contacted them and they arranged to extend it by 2 months but each month they still took £75 in interestlink3.gif each month and on the 3rd month we offered to pay £50 each month till it was cleared, they accepted this, but at the end of month 3 they took another £75 instead, and on month 4 totalling £300 which was the cost of the original loan. We tried to contact them, as we have 5 kids and where my husband had no job still and we were on benefits. They did not reply to e-mails of phone callslink3.gif, and we heard nothing for a few months, we got hold of them last month eventually, and they agreed to £10 a month till rich starts a new job, but Lo and behold we checked the bank this morning and instead of the £10 agreed they have TAKEN 4 DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS CLEARING OUT OUR ACCOUNT

one for £10 one for £20 one for £10 and onf for £75 totalling £115, got em on the phone this morning at long last, said there is nothing they can do, was really snotty and put the phone down, but he said they have no record of any agreement or previous payments. AND STILL SAID WE OWE £240!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The original loan was only £250 and so far they have taken £415 and reckon we still owe £240!

have sancelled the card NatWest assure me they cannot take any more, but any advice anyone????????

Now that your money is safe I would let them whistle for any more. You won't get back what they took but I doubt they will take you to court for any more. The CFO lowlife sometimes inhabit this forum so be careful with any personal info.

are CFO linked with any other payday loan companies, ie are they the same company as anyone else but just under another name?

They also have the following two websites:

cfoloans.

They offer debt management, IVA's, and Debt Consolidation Loans on this website

paydaycredit

This is a new one but if you look at the registered name & address it is the same

hi, i,m new to this, i applied for a loan with this company. didn,t get it. then went to the bank couple of weeks later, guess what no funds. totally wiped out my wages. will never apply for a payday loan again. if they can do that without a contract ,what can they do if you have ?

make sure you get it back! - they have previous for this sort of thing.

There are lots of threads on here of CFO taking what they like from peoples bank accounts including those that have been declined for loans.

They also follow these forums so be careful not to give away any personal info.

Make sure you get your debit card replaced as they may try again - a new bank account is the only guaranteed defence.

Hi there,

Im amazed at how many people this has happened to. I had my account cleared by a pay day loan company so this is what I did.

I explained to my bank that it was an unauthorized transacton which is was (i had also contacted them saying my income had dropped so I needed to pay a smaller amount for a while). Natwest said I needed to contact the visa charge back people which they gave me a number for. I contacted them. I had to fill in two decleration forms plus I put a covering letter explaining why it wa not authorized. Two days the visa charge back dept refunded my account. As a single mum with two kids and 3 weeks to payday I could have kissed them. Having no money is no joke. And these companies need to realise they cannot get away with theft anymore.

I really hope this helps.

wow, i'm really glad I stumbled across this thread.

I had a payday loan about a week before I got paid and I paid it back on payday. I was a bit short again this month so re-applied and I have heard nothing back so I was looking for a phone number for them and saw this on google.

I can honestly say that the only issue I had with CFO is the lack of communication. The first time I applied after making the initial application I received one phone call and that was it, I didn't even know the money was in my bank and I only noticed when I went on to see if a direct debit for my phone bill had been set up. Since I have re-applied I have herad nothing back, no reply to emails, nothing except the £1 coming out of my account.

I didn't really have many concerns about this, I just assumed I wouldn't be getting the loan and the main problem would be being skint but then at least I had nothing to pay ack on payday but now I am worried.

I have read a few seperate threads now and there seems to be a recurring theme with random money being taken oout of bank accounts.

I think I will get my wages paid into my other account now just to be on the safe side.

I know it is probably of little comfort to the people who have had money taken from them but I thank you as you may just have saved me from the same thing. I think i'll be checking this forum out more often.

Hi. I have had the exact problem with CFO. Got a Payday loan through them, payed them back interest every month for almost 6 months and then told them I cannot continue interest and would appreciate a settlement amount!. Which they refused and I obliged by telling them to go to hell and changed my card. Then a year later, well actually last week on my payday, they deducted 2 amounts of £250 out of my account!. Obviously you can understand how cross and shocked I was cause that's allot of money!. Tried contacting them with no response. So I called Barclays immediately and cancelled the second amount pending and requested a Visa recall back for the original amount wich means I had to fill out a declaration stating that I did not authorise the amount and will be getting a refund soon. Point is, DO NOT deal with Payday loan companies. The are the lowest **** you can find!. they live off interest. Get a proper bloody job I say!. Oh, and I also sent all correspondence to the Financial Ombudsman to complain about CFO and awaiting a response from them. There email address [email protected] ... thanks. I hope this helps anyone effected by Capital Finance One

Sorry to hear of your trouble. All of these companies will try and raid your account given the chance. Their best way of getting your new account details is if you make new loan applications. You give your details to a company who happen to be a broker and all of a sudden your new card details are common knowledge.

can they do that tho dont really know what to do now put in a card dispute with bank surely it can still be classed as fraud and an unauthorised transaction they are a joke of a company they have been trying since november and all transactions were blocked apart from this one of 200

They shouldn't- but they do. They have your account details and can even create direct debits. The only way to be totally safe is new account and not to apply for any more of these loans. In the meantime you will have to fight tooth and nail for refund from bank as they will argue you have willingly handed over your details. Some do get refunds if they complain enough.
