if you can make sustainable regular payments

then set up an arrangement with the council.

 

but yes

never pay a bailiff any money

pay it to the council & by internat banking if you have too.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I would suggest contacting your local Councillor, they can approach the council at a higher level on your behalf and hopefully get them to agree direct payment arrangements. If they do accept a payment of whatever you can afford now followed by installments, make sure the amounts are at a level that you can definitely afford. If you fail to keep exactly to any agreement, there won't be a second chance.

Contact details for your Councillor should be available through the council website.
