Hello Everyone

I would like to know if anyone know about disabled access. My father shops in a supermarket nearby but they always have problems with their travelator; it hardly ever works. My father has to work up the very steep travelator and he has dislocated hips and so struggles.

What is the law on Health & safety issues concerning this?

Help me to help others!

Hi

shops now have legal obligation to ensure disabled access. They have to make 'reasonable' changes to their premises. So if it's a small shop and they can't afford to put a ramp in they could put a bell at the entrance with a sign for diabled people to get some help. If they have put a travelator in but it does't work then i'ts not up to the job so you can report it to the Disabilyt Rights Commision. All this info can be found on Disabled people : Directgov

Hope this helps
