DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Exciting day. I've not only been offered a 75% discount but I've been promoted to their "Debt Surveillance Programme", which may include:

• Instruction of a Field Agent

• Enquiries into financial circumstances 'for up to 6 years'

• Regular checks to confirm residential address

I remember a similar letter from someone but it's been such a long time ago, I really can't remember.

I'm finding a bit of action being taken at the moment, phone calls and texts have started but I'm not losing any sleep certainly not like I was when getting here nearly six years ago!

Watch your credit reference for multiple searches , this has happened in the

past damaging "debt collection"/ "outstanding debt" searches being made often

daily and sometimes 2-3 times a day.

Any Letters I Draft are N0T approved by CAG and no personal liability is accepted.

Not long to go now!

A 75% discount isn't bad and is probably a fair estimate of what I've had from MBNA without all their extortionate fees and interest rates. I might be tempted to pay if (a) I had the money and (b) it was going to MBNA rather than a DCA. Or maybe not.

It's basically checking to see if your finances improve, you get more credit accounts

in the past some DCAs made excessive use of CRAs leaving "debt collection foot prints"

on the credit record.,

There is guidance on excessive searches and the impact it has, compensation has been paid

for an excessive number or searches.

More than 1-2 "visible" searches over a period of say 3 months would I believe be considered excessive.

Take care in using " threatening" all that has been intimated so far is watching.

not quite with you there :). do you mean you are 'watching', or who is?

anyhow, them using such '..promoted to their debt surv programme....' seems to be designed to try to 'intimidate'?

  • 1 year later...

Had a brief flurry of activity from DLC (who now own this alleged debt)

including a statement for every year they'd held the account, each in a separate envelope.

Then early November they said the matter would be referred to Restons, their solicitors.

Sent them the statute barred letter (six years from July 2009 by my reckoning), receipt of which they acknowledged, saying they'd be in touch shortly.

A threatogram also arrived from Restons so I sent them a copy of the statute barred letter.

Since then I've heard no more other than another annual statement on 15 December.

Checked my credit rating with Noddle and that one's no longer listed.
