Hi all,

While I was on holiday, enormous bulging cracks appeared in one of my back rooms. I've spoken to the insurers, and they'll be coming round in the next couple of days. I've also spoken to my neighbour, who's told me that my house had a subsidence problem in the 80s! There's also a concrete floor in the room with the cracks, and now I come to think of it this might be explained by previous subsidence. This didn't come up on any of the surveys when I bought the place, neither was it declared by the seller. As far as I'm concerned, I bought a house without a history of movement, and got appropriate insurance. My big fear is that the insurance company will void my insurance due to the house's history, even though I bought the cover in good faith! Has anyone got any experience/advice on this?

Thanks, L
