HI,

Don't know whats been going on but.......last week recieved a notice that 2005-2006 Child tax credits were overpayed apparently to us and we owe them £700+ , we always notified them of changes etc by phone like job change that sort of thing the sums on the estimate were joint income £22000 but when our P60's came it worked out to £24000 approx and they want to reclaim the money they overpayed.

To make matters worse 2 days later we get another form from CTC for the year 2006-2007 saying "thank you for informing us of your change in circumstances etc, we now find you are not entitle to recieve CTC anymore" and they want to claim back £4034 for that year!!!!!!, we didn't even recieve that amount in a year so WTF is going on i don't know.

I immediately phoned them and they are looking into what has happened with the 2006-2007 year as something is not right. I am going to Dispute the year 2005-2006 using form TC486.

I can't beleive this whole system, i don't really understand the CTC claim forms anyway, we have virtually always only recieved the basic of £10 approx a week in credits, surely if they have made a mistake its down to them?. We always notify them of income, hours etc so we trust they get it right, i don't award ourselves the credits?.

Wish i never bothered in the first place to claim them.
