They really do love the threats of these "obtaining judgements" dont they....so ruddy what, you wont be accepted for credit ever again - the world will end i think not

A debt collector may call to collect the debt personally....

 

You should say to them - "if you find any money laying around this house then ur welcome to it"

Westcott I found very easy to deal with.

I CCA'd them and they ran off

Funnily enough my husband is also in contact with Westcott over statute barred debt. He wrote to them on 27th March and letter was signed for on 28th.

 

Nothing from them as yet.

 

Do they usually respond and if so how long does it take them?

meh, Wescots are a doddle. this is how it always always goes with these guys.

 

Stage one: Wescots send you the above meaningless standard letter.

 

Stage 2: you cca them

 

Stage 3: the 12+30 days expires

 

Stage 4: They send a tick box letter request for a copy of your passport/birth certificate as proof of ID to avoid them breaking the DPA

 

Stage 5: you send them a copy of their first letter which has your name, address, account number and allegded outstanding balance advising they must already be satisfied as to your identy or they wouldn't have sent you this letter with your personal details on it.

 

Stage 6: They send you the "we are investigating your complaint" standard letter and you never hear from them again.

 

Its almost too easy. It's wierd that they never seem to learn. They must have had this happen to them hundreds of times and they just don't get the whole "must have a valid agreement" thing.

well today we recieved a FINAL NOTICE dated the 08/04/08which reads as follows

 

Despite previous correspondence a balance still remains outstanding on the above debt .

Unless you make payment of £***.** within the next 14 days a claimform/summons may be lodged with Hull County Court or the local Sherriff Court for Scotland residents and subsequently issued to you for payment of the outstanding balance plus all legal expenses as follows :-
