ALDI Stores VatA VatB OK whats hapend to C?

Hi.

 

I have just been to a ALDI store for the first time probably because the ex works there.

 

Any way Tried asking her to explain my till receipt and thats like asking a wall to dry quicker. One still goes back and tries. any hoo

 

you get the standard price list the total of a item subtotal thats all ok until.

 

At the side of the prices in the list there is the letters A & B . Now your first reaction i wouldn't be able to post because my thread would be deleted.

 

At the bottom under Total it gives me a list Vat A £24.25 and Vat B £15.91 and it says 17.5% £2.78. (total 42.94) This isn't bad for a weekly shopping if you cut £11.99 off for my new land line phone.

 

Whats going on with the A & B has the inland revenue finally gone digital? or is this some small time business manager trying to cover some tracks?

 

Any ideas on the ab's?

AIUI, because of varying rates of VAT, each item is marked A or B to denote which rate of VAT is payable.

 

The VATA and VATB totals are separate totals of the VAT for each class (VAT rate) - which may already be included in the line price.

 

If I have misunderstood, please scan and post the reciept concerned in order that it can be deciphered

Yes. Different rates of VAT. Even for the same goods depending on the means of supply.

And some goods are VAT exempt.

Yup, and despite appearing the same top the end-user (ie no VAT), VAT exempt and zero-rated are separate categories.

 

There are three rates of VAT in this country

 

0%

5%

17.5%
