Does the pound have to be sent with the CCA request?

My thinking is that if they have a valid credit agreement, they can put the pound on to what you owe them

If they don't have a valid credit agreement then surely you don't have to pay?

I don't fancy giving them cheques with my safe account number on and POs aren't cheap!

Katy,

the £1 is a statutory requirement - if you dont send it they have no obligation to provide a reply

omnia praesumuntur legitime facta donec probetur in contrarium

Please note: I am not a member of the legal profession, all advice given is purely my opinion, if in doubt consult a professional

hi.

there is a statutory fee for a CCA request which is £1 if you don't send it they don't have to comply with the request.

What you need to do is expressly say the £1 is not to be allocated to your account is should only be taken as payment of the fee

kind regards,

shane

This is my first post so Hello to everyone on board.

It was by pure chance that I stumbled across your site but, I am so glad I did, because I think I am going to need to pick a few brains in the next few days, weeks.....

The reason I am posting is because I have just been told that there is a letter from Lowell Portfolio at the flat that I share with my girlfriend. I don't know what its about but, it's basically a demand for approx £3.5k.

I have only been with my girlfriend for a couple of years after splitting with my wife 4 years ago but, naturally my girlfriend thinks that my ex has sent Lowell Protfolio to her address and it's caused some friction. I called my ex who said that she knew nothing about the letter or debt and it was then that I decided to type LP into Google. I am amazed at how many of you have recieved this type of letter and whilst I would still have prefrerred not to have received it, in a way, I am pleased that it has nothing to do with my ex.

I will post again tomorrow when I find out exactly what this demand is in connection with but, I have a feeling that it could well be a very old credit card debt that was run up years ago and I will need your help to get LP off my back.

Anyway thanks for now,
