  1. if British Telecom because the cancellation of a service which then means that it is impossible to use a collateral service such as broadband – especially when the broadband is being supplied by themselves, then they would not be in a position to refuse to cancel broadband simply on the basis of the contractual provision. In other words, you're absolutely right. However, British Telecom are dinosaurs and getting them to accept that you are right will be a different matter. If you fall out with British Telecom on this, then my advice is do not stop paying the monthly fee because if you do they will simply trash your life – even t
  2. Hi, Im hoping someone can help me out. Ive just discovered BT have issued me with a default notice for an account they closed in error. The amount is the cancellation charges. A couple of years back they closed my account without me requesting it. I had a new account set up straight away due to an error on there part. I am no longer with them & was totally unaware of this. I have spoken to them & they have said the default & disputed amount still stand as I cancelled the contract early. This is totally untrue. Im hoping for some advice on what to do next & how I go about getting the default removed.
  3. ? Did bt ever use grey cabling? I know that the master box has an old british telecom logo on it. Ginger'smum
  4. dry. Otherwise it is your word against theirs and I can tell you that British Telecom are not renowned for being very flexible. They are another big organisation who have had it too good for too long
  5. recent correspondence. We have been instructed by our client, BT (British Telecom) to recover the outstanding balance of £***.*3 which relates to services at the supply address $$$, *&*&^*&*& etc ********, during billing period 05/10/2009 to 23/05/2010. If you believe this amount is not owed please forward any documents showing that your account with our client was cancelled and closed with no outstanding balance or that you account is up to date with no arrears. This would enable us to query this matter directly with our client. Please forward these documents at your earliest convenience. Plea
  6. a problem with it you see:lol: Its not toooooooo technical honestly:lol: British telecom dont seem to have a problem with it!!!!!
  7. as been there but its connected to a digital master box inside with an old british telecom logo on it.
  8. ttention is drawn to page 2 & 3, whereby I included a copy of a recent British Telecom bill showing my full current address details, in addition to, a copy of my passport and my full UK photocard driving licence, which also shows my current address. The inclusion of these proofs of ID/address is referenced on page 2 in paragraph 1, and I fail to understand how or why this information has been ignored. Except for the possibility that perhaps it is an attempt to stall the progress of my request and, as such, I would therefore like to make an official complaint to your company on that basis. You have a statutory obligation to accept my
  9. Most clients choose to search against the Electoral Roll (ER) and British Telecom's Database (BT OSIS). However, you are given options to search against all Suppression Files, for example: National Change of Address, Deceased and Goneaway Files. Where a record matches to the Electoral Roll, the system will list all names ER Confirmed at the address input by the user. By searching against BT OSIS, the Online Solution will return the BT Registered Name and Telephone Number. The name and address details you input do not need to be an exact match to the details contained on BT OSIS and the ER, as the system allows for variances, using phonet
  10. rights act. Hence the last Government's dismal failure to act against British Telecom for the illegal 'wire tapping' of customers' Internet activities as part of BT's nauseating Phorm campaign. As one who played a minor role in the Phorm counter attack, I can assure everyone here that "Government" is seemingly staffed by self-serving incompetents to whom nothing matters. . . Unless The News of The World is suspected of hacking an MP's mobile phone, at which point, of course, there's a huge hulabaloo *not* because the MP is upset but because, well, everyone in the UK is open to this kind of abuse and it really, really must be s
  11. stly question of the "crown guarantee", which was set up before shares in British Telecom, as it was then called, were sold to the public in 1984. The case has been brought by the trustees of the BT pension fund, who hope to get a definitive ruling that the government would have to take on a significant chunk of BT's £7.6bn pension deficit if the company collapsed. BT is technically a defendant in the case, along with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Lawyers for BIS are expected to argue that while the government stands behind people who were BT workers or pensioners in 1984, it has no obligation to thos
  12. ahh the good old days of british telecom, or before that post office telephones I have the good old ringtone recorded from a BT 706 telephone , REAL bells , stand out above any of these silly modern ringtones now if you really want some fun get one of these below, I made one from a bluetooth headset before you could buy these handsets ( its only the inside of bluetooth headset that is inside it) all you really do is extend the mike and the earpiece and extend the buttons from the headset to the side of the telephone handset , you want to see peoples face's when you hand them the handset and tell them "its for you" Exclusive: T
  13. After months of poor service, overcharging and getting nowhere with BT i moved my line rental to Sky. BT are now harrassing me by phone and letter demanding advance charges as i was 'in contract' when i moved and threatening to pass on to their external debt collection agency even though i am trying to communicate with them. I argued that i wasn't in contract and finally got the response that the 12 month contract automatically renews unless cancelled. I thought that under contract law a contract could only be renewed by 'positive action' and that silence was not acceptable. My questions are: Is the contract enforceable me
  14. as a good reputation for helping with debt. * I had a final bill with British Telecom of £33.61 which I paid. About two months later,I'd gotten another demand for this- I contacted British Telecom who to be fair said straight away that they'd made a mistake. I then had gotten a letter from them confirming I had paid the bill and my balance was zero. * I have now gotten a letter from a debt collector called NGS. I told them I had paid this bill and I had proof from British Telecom. The man told me that this was not relevant as it was NGS dealing with this now and not British Telecom. * I said that since it was British Telecom
  15. ust go to Consumer Direct. I would suggest that you write a letter to British Telecom outlining in bullet points everything that has happened so that it is very clear to anyone who reads it -- especially a court (because this is where it will go). Lay out very succinctly what solution you want and then tell them that you want a reply within 14 days. If they don't respond - meaning if they don't respond completely positively (and they won't) then send them a 7 day LBA making it clear that you will sue them in the County court. If you are only bluffing about this then don't bother to make the threat. Don't for a moment imagi
  16. in the prepayment section of Powergen, also worked for British gas and now British telecom, so in the past have had consumers who have had issues with these companies be cautious of me. anyways moving forward tell us everything you know on the MIF. hahaha . . cheers.
  17. day morning I received a letter from Moorcroft who are acting on behalf of British Telecom. I have found two issues with the letter that I can see, 1. The letter was dated 5th Jan 2010 and gives me till 12th Jan to respond, the letter was not recieved as stated previously this morning (11th) surely I should have longer than 1 day to respond? 2. Secondly the client reference number bears no resemblance to mine, either the telephone number or account number does not add up to my closed BT account, I decided to choose another ISP due to poor service from BT, any help with this would help.
  18. ts as they default. Business Telecom were pertaining to be a subsidiary of British Telecom and advising their customers that they had to convert to a Business Telecom solution. trading Standards were called in on this ocassion. On both occasions, Shire Leasing were alledgedly shown to be in the know about what was going on and hiding the information from the leasing companies. What this means to you is that Shire Leasing's involvement in the transaction, whilst putting you in a vulnerable position, should provide some support on the trading inconsistencies moving forward. I seriously suggest that you google "Shire Leasing + Global Teleco

  21. commercial organization, I recommend that you follow the procedure in the British Telecom Phone Book. Do not even dignify the **** with a response of any sort. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, he intended it to be used by human beings. To stop the nuisance completely, I recommend you get hold of a trueCall. If that is outside of your price range, or if the telephone is not important enough to you for you to spend this money, there are other solutions. You can leave the plug pulled out of the wall, treat your landline as a throwaway number, and get a Skype number for your private communications. Or, if you are like me a
