Hi everyone

I am after some help please

I purchased a 2 and 3 seater sofa from dfs early july, it was delivered last week within in 20 minutes we had rung the store and reported 3 faults with it. The sofa technican came out yesterday and said that the faults could be repaired. However I am not happy with this and i told them that when i initally rang. I am requesting a refund and rejecting the goods

However the manager has said to me today that they only thing they can do is to have the sofas back into the store and repair them, as we ordered them and they where made for us. He has offered us a temporary sofa while they are being repaired. But until then he is unable to offer us anything else

Please some help and advice, all complaint letters have been sent recorded, the finance company should be receiving theres today. I have contact the furniture obandsman and am using a goverment consumer direct website for help. But any help from you good people who have had similar upsets would help. I also doesnt help that as a member of the armed forces i am off to the Gulf in a couple of weeks and this will be left with my poor wife

Thanks, I have quoted this to them using the sales of goods act, however they are still not moving, They want to pick up the products repair them and return them to me. The manager says the sales of goods act entitles them to repair the goods

Hmmm - looks like they are looking at the new regs, but as far as I am aware, you can still go the old route and demand recisission of th contract if you have not accepted them (which you obviously haven't). Have you paid for these yet? If so I would advise that you write in demanding that they refund your money and collect the goods.

What kind of finance do you have?

Do you have a copy of the finance with 2 signatures on it?

Make sure you put the sofa out of use store it away somewhere and dont use it!

The Finance is a payback over 36 months, I have asked the finance company to send a fault goods letter which i have to fill out and send back to them so they will not take any payment until it is resolved. After speaking to the store manager again today, he is looking into it more and will get back to me. He has said that he may be able to all us into store to choose another sofa. To be honest thats all i want, arrived damaged and the quality of it looks a bit suspect. So i wouldnt want one of these again. Just have to wait and see however i have all the paperwork prepared to take it to the Furniture Ombandsman. If I go that route i will either get a refund or have to accept DFS repair. Not going to lose in the long run I dont think

Success, Manager contacted us Saturday and invited us to store today to discuss our options, He asked us if we were prepared to choose another sofa. At last he did listen thats all we wanted in the first place. A new different style sofa on order, they collect the faulty one next week and are giving us a loan sofa and chair until the new suite arrives. Just proves if you stick to your guns and you are in the right they will back down !":)
