It seems so easy but I have no idea what to do!!

I am 21 and Lloyds have taken nearly £1000 off me in the last 2 years.

 

I friend put me in touch with this site and said there were people on here who could talk me through claiming some of it back.

 

Presumably the first thing I need to do is go back through my statements and calculate how much they have charged me.

 

Is this correct?

 

If anyone has time, a push in the right direction would be most appreciated!

Welcome.

 

First and foremost, before you start please have a thorough read of the FAQs. This is a must, no excuses. There’s a Step by Step guide here too. You should print these out to refer to later, so as to avoid having to ask basic questions.

 

You need to spend 2 or 3 days gradually getting your head round everything. If you find a forum/thread/post of interest, save it in your Favourites, so as you can always find it easily. Here’s one to start with, which you should find useful later:

There’s a lot to take in, but it’s time well spent and will ensure that you succeed in your claim without problems. Remember it’s not a race, don’t rush, just follow the guidelines one step at a time

 

This is a self-help forum and you must be prepared to put in the time and effort required. It’s your claim, your money and you cannot expect others to do all the work for you.

 

Then look at other threads in your bank’s forum, so as you know what you can expect to happen. At the top of each bank’s forum is a Successes forum where you can follow previous claims against your bank from start to finish.

 

When you feel confident that you understand the process and the various stages involved, start a new thread in your bank’s forum and post your progress and any questions there and you’ll get plenty of help. Always stick to one thread, so people can see what you’ve done so far and therefore can give you better advice.

Finally the Moderators and Site Helpers are having to spend far too much time dealing with unnecessary and avoidable errors in claims caused by impatience, ignorance or just plain laziness. If you don’t know what to do next, ask. If you don’t understand something, ask. It might be a dumb question, but it’s a lot easier to sort out than a dumb mistake.

Your title is very naive, it's not an easy process as even a cursory viewing of a few other threads will tell you. Added to the fact that you've "no idea what to do"... you're taking a financial institution to court, so the moderators advice to thoroughly prepare yourself is good advice. You may actually end up in court with Lloyds as they push each case to the limit.

 

Moderators also advise that the best way of not incurring charges is to avoid them in the first place, so you should also seek some money management advice if you've lost so much so quickly. Otherwise you'll find yourself in the same situation in another 2 years...

 

There is a good prospect of success if you follow the guidance, but it could take many months and can be a very frustrating and even scary experience along the way. As you will find if you inform yourself around this site.

 

Good luck, start at the beginning and work your way through.

good luck shaggie, i dont know any 21 yr old who hasnt had money problems so your no different to anyone else.

 

this is a great site for help etc, i agree with what amberchain says above about having a good read, but dont let the rest of it put u off, no body has a clue where to start off but the more u read the more assured you'll become, if ur not sure on anyting it is best to ask
