Hello everyone.

Would like to say thanks for this website and everyone on it for giving me the guts to start down this track!

I have one question. I have gone through all my charges for the last few years online and there are a few distinct groups of charges.

These are:

Overdraft Excess Fee

Overdraft Interest

Unpaid Direct Debit

Unpaid Standing Order

Account Charge

I realise that being a Gold card customer I can't claim for the Account charges (I do have to admin to agreeing to those charges!) but what else am I able to claim for?

If someone can help I would be very grateful.

Thanks again.

Andy

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the forums:D

You can claim for all of those except for the a/c charge.

As for the overdraft interest you can only claim the amount that has been charged on the unlawful charges. There is a spreadsheet in the library, Vampiress' one, that will work out the o/d interest that is as a result of the charges.

Have you read all of the FAQ's and had a read of other peoples threads. I would strongly advise it as it really gives you a feel for what to do and what to expect.

 Hi,

I am confused as to what I put on the preliminary approach letter.

In the section of the letter where it says:

What I require

I calculate that you have taken £XXXXX plus £XXX which you have charged me in overdraft interest for the sum which you have taken. Total £XXXXX

What do I put in the overdraft interest section? (£XXX)

Do I put in the interest they have charged me (which I would have to work out from my statements) or do I put in the interest I can charge them according to the spead sheet? Or is it something different again?

If someone can help I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Andy

Depends which spreadsheet. There is one that works out interest at 8% that yiu use when going to court or there is one that you use to work out the interest you have been charged on the charges. Use the latter for your preliminary letter.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I had been lurking on here for a while before starting but it has been a while since I was last here. Since then it has changed site and in my view become more difficult to use! But hey that may just be me!

Thanks again and I will have a look for the stuff you mentioned.

Kind regards,

Andy

You seem to have 2 threads going ATM. If you keep to one thread it will make it easier for you and everyone else to follow. The moderators will merge your threads and slap your wrists if you are not careful.:o
