I saw a very heated debate yesterday on MSE, and had to post in the end, its in Home, Work & Play > Vent, Bent & Heaven Sent

The (Consumer) Vent Board, called Bankcharges, theres a poster called Ivanopinion, who definitely has an opinion!

I normally try to stay out of heated discussions, but I could not help it this time, I just had to put my pennyworth in!

He is basically stating that the little people who claim their charges back will make his mortgage rates etc go up and he does not want to pay for them.

I stated that the 'fat cats' in large organizations had responsiblity for this, and that I think instead of thinking small and blaming individuals for his money problems, perhaps he should think a bit bigger ergo 'fat cats payments etc'

goes off to calm down...

He could be a troll working for a bank, or just a consumer who has NEVER had fianancial difficulty and cannot understand why we want to take action, luckily we are in a majority here, and these people obviously are narrow minded in thinking that it is our fault that his rates will nicrease.

Maybe he would understand if he read stories about hardship, struggle, and poverty because of this!!!

Perhaps he may want to consider it a different way: The bank's taking of OUR money, unlawfully, has ensured that his mortgage is as low as it is. I for one would certainly be happy to cite him as an accessory to the bank's unlawful behaviour...and if necessary would subpoena him to stand in the dock with the bank...you can tell him that Spicey says to put that in his pipe and smoke it...:)

I have a friend at work who's opinion I'm not interested in...

She says if we fight hard enough they'll change the system and start charging everyone small amount for actual services. Great for us she says, but she's never paid a charge in her life and doesn't want to start now.

I sometimes have to keep quiet, but can rarely help myself rave about this site.

I read the whole thread, this guy is obviously missing the point.....

ITS UNLAWFUL!

If someone was acting unlawfully and taking his money I BET he would act on it.

Refer him to the OFT report agreeing it is UNLAWFUL to pay a penalty over and above what their actual cost is!
