Inspired by the recent success of my neighbours I have decided to recoup charges imposed on me by HSBC. This may sound like an incredibly daft question but where do I send the preliminary request to - is this a simple as my account holding branch or does this need to go to head office:confused:

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site.

Best to go off to head office and recorded.

Have a look in the HSBC bank threads for more guidance you should also find contacts info at the top of that group.Good idea too to start your own thread there

choc-chip (great name!) best to post here in your thread for maximum exposure - i see you've had a response from your first letter -

that's great - but it is probably just a bog standard response designed to get you to put off any further action. our advice would be to stick to your timetable - prelim + 14 days = lba + 14 days = file your claim.

saying they are looking into it is a standard fob off response.

;) Hi, and thanks for the support - I was beginning to think they were not going to respond to my preliminary letter at all - but I'm not letting them off, the next letter is ready to go tomorrow...

Hi choc, they have a number of standard letters, you will recognise your own if you read other's threads. They are designed to delay you and put you off claiming back what is yours, so as lateralus says just stick to your own time line for your letters and claim submission... unless they offer you enough money to stop of course :)
