Hi there,

I have just registered and was looking for some advice regarding reclaiming bank charges.

I have looked through a lot of posts, trying to find out for myself, but to be honest, the more I read, the more confused I am becoming.

The story so far, is that I applied for, and received my statements, then I sent a letter, to ask for my money back.

I sent this , by recorded delivery, on 26/01/07. (Royal Bank of Scotland)

I havent heard anything back.

I believe I should now be sending another letter, threatening court action, but am unsure which court to name. Is it my local sheriff court?

Hopefully someone can help me, as I am a bit bewildered.

Thankyou

Hi Newbie :D

It's very difficult to establish what to do by just reading random threads unless you have gone through the basics first. Start off in the FAQs section and most importantly in this guide. Get your reading done and use the template letters provided to assist you with your claim.

Your first letter is referred to as your "preliminary" letter. Have a look for it in the guide I linked above and if your first letter (that you sent) isn't anywhere near as well written as this, then I would suggest starting again.

My only reason for saying this, is that it sounds as if you may have "created" your own letter - saying the wrong thing or demanding the wrong things could end up with your claim being ignored. Best to follow the procedure properly.

Keep this thread updated and ask lots of questions, you will get lots of help!

Good luck ;)

Btw, you don't need to refer to any court in your LBA (letter before action - your second letter) but I think you should have a read before proceeding with your second letter.
