Ive been banking with Lloyds for 15 years. I recently claimed and won a setlement from Lloyds, it was paid in, and paid off a small part of my debt almost immediatly. Any how, almost 3 weeks after the settlement arives i reieve a letter informing me that my bank account is to be closed within 4 weeks.

Can they do this?

Ive since been to another bank to open an account and have been DECLINED!

I feel really panicy, i need a bank account, i run three businesses and now cant open any.

Any help needed urgently please, thank you.

Hi

I think that they are allowed to close your account unfortunatley.

Have you tried opening a NatWest Step account? This is for people with a poor credit rating etc.

Good luck, hope you get something sorted.

Barty:)

The thing is, this is NOT common for Lloyds.....and you should retaliate if they have closed your account simply for claiming charges. Were you in debt with them, outstanding payments etc?

Ask them in writing why they are closing your account.

You may also want to contact the FOS (see that link I gave you above).

Also meant to add, you should get an account from Nat West or the Co-Op
