I've sent the first data protection template letter out to Natwest with a check for the 10 pounds.

It's been over 40 days now and I've got now statements.

What do I do? Do they do this often? If not perhaps I have messed up somewhere...

My typing is terrible okay let me clear this up a little.

I sent the SAR to the data commisioner for Natwest in london. I enclosed the £10. I used the template from one on this site.

It has now bee nover 40 days and I have still not recieved any statements.

Do I go to the bank directly now just to check the progress or do I write more letters? As far as I can tell they have not taken the money. Have I perhaps written to the wrong people?

Has the cheque been cashed?

You can call Retail Regulatory Risk that deal with Data Protection Issues, their number is in the contacts section. I know some advise against any contact with the bank whatsoever but at this early stage it is hardly going to lead to you saying anything that would lose a case. If you went to the bank all they would do is be able to order the bank statements for £5. Don;t worry and Welcome to the CAG.

Thanks for hte welcome good to be here. I've asked for my statements at the local natwest she said there would be a £5 charge as you said. She's taken my number and will call me when they arrive. The check has not been cashed so I can only guess that they have ignored it.

Once I have gone through my statements and figured out which charges are excessive etc do i edit the SAR and just request information on the charges I am interested in?

I recall on the SAR template it specifically mentions that the sender wants the information of which of the charges have actually been handled by an employee and requests also the proof.

do I still want to follow that path? would it be more useful to have the Consumer Action Group logo on hte envelope so they don't accidently misplace it?

I am a current member of staff at NatWest, so the answer is that the statements will give you the charges that you are claiming. The SAR will show any manual intervention by bank employees. The Prelim will go to Customer Relations Unit in Borehamwood. I hope that helps for now. Statements should be with you shortly.

  • 1 month later...

Okay I'm using the advanced excel sheets to work out everything the charges are fine but I'm a little confused about the interest part. Do I just list all interest after the first date of illegal charges or do I only include interest over a certain amount...?

the technical terms have got me confuzzled a little.
