Just had a flash of inspiration........ now someone's gonna put the light out :D

Would it be possible to force a DCA to reveal what they paid for your debt when they bought it ?

Surely, any paperwork they have about the debt and how much they paid, will have your name and account details on it, so it IS your personal information and should be covered by the DPA.

A properly worded SAR could force them to give you copies, couldn't it ?

Tha't what I was thinking, plus, it'll put some fire in your heart when dealing with them if you know just what level of profit they are trying to make out of you.

Fraid they are not obliged to tell you that-though a Court can make them

declare it. I read that then you could use unfair terms to avoid paying the

full amount, because as Gizmo said they don't pay anything like the full amount and I understand that 25% is on the high side. However, in the

Consumer Credit Act, the full amount is what the debtor should pay.

If you wanted to settle, the DCA may do so and possibly for slightly less than 25%, but it would depend on what you were paying at the time, and what they could glean about you, financial wise from your credit reports.
