Hi,

The staff who operates the DLR train (train captain?)checked my Oyster card while I was on the train

for some reason my Oyster card was not validated.

Could've sworn I heard the beep at the terminal but maybe it was two beeps and I misheard :/

he said that he had all my details and that the penalty would be sent to me in the post.

I can't seem to find any information about where this has ever happened before.

He didn't check my ID or take any of my details.

I'm not sure which address my Oyster card is registered to, if at all, as my friend just gave me hers when she left London.

what happens now?

I can't check if the card is registered, or who or where it's registered to.

Do penalty notices even get sent by post?

Thanks.

well if its not registered to you

you wont heae anything

and as they didn't take any pers details

tough luck on them!!

you could goto the site and type in the number and try and register

but that'll alert them to a problem and poss then get the 'penalty' tacked on to you

when at present they know nowt!!

up to you

i'd pers simply get a new card

register it

and use that one.

don't think they like people using other peoples cards?

how long have you been using the card?

how have you been toping it up?

Yeah when I went on the site and tried to register the card, it lets me go up to the personal details page (which I didn't fill out). Does that mean it's not registered?

I'll be getting a new Oyster card as I want to link my new railcard to it. I've been using the card since January and I've been topping up with my debit card most of the time.

I read somewhere on another thread months ago that the DLR staff only hand in paper copies of the penalty notices and that's how they're issued - is this still true? If so, do I not need to worry then since I wasn't given a paper notice of any sort?

You can transfer an Oyster Card as long as it's not a travel card. Likewise you cannot transfer an Oyster Card if there's a photo card with it or it's a staff or BTP one (Zip or staff/Police etc.).

Hi, if it's a Penalty Fare Notice it would have been issued at the time and you'd have been given paperwork. Nothing will come of it. Even if your details were on the card there's a process to go through when dealing with matters like this and simply taking random details from a card wouldn't work as the card might not be yours for whatever reason, legitimately or otherwise. As stated above, you can transfer Oyster Cards as longs as they're not travel cards or photo cards etc. The address or person it's registered is irrelevant unless the details of the person were obtained at the time.
