Good day all.

So I'm hoping having gone through this with other institutions that I have got this one right. That said I would very much appreciate somebody just checking my logic and attached letter.

I took out a loan with BOS/HSPF and at the same time they issued me with a card, presumably a credit card though I'm not certain that is what technically classed as such. Fees were added and I would like to launch a claim for these back with interest. I have used the normal template - will this be subject to the same rules as more standard credit cards etc?

Many thanks

Right so I've had an email response to this today. They have requested I call them or provide details and they will call me - seems unusual, has anybody else encountered this response?

I've replied briefly saying I don't really do these things by phone, only in writing. What are peoples thoughts though, should I call or stick to the 'in writing' only mantra?

  • 1 month later...

Well interesting developments on this one.

Very briefly they've responded to my complaint and whilst they don't accept or admit any wrong doing

they have made me a settlement offer that is actually very fair and sent me a cheque.

The only blot on the offer is them trying to tell me I have to pay this money to Lowells who bought the debt and that they have advised Lowells of this.

I've written to them letting them know I don't accept they have a right to put any conditions on the compensation offer and that I would not be sending the payment on to Lowells.

Other than this it is a surprisingly fair offer and continuing to court would make no sense.

Thanks for all the help - the advice I've had on this thread and others clearly made my complaint compelling enough for them to decide

I would follow it through to court and settlement was a cheaper option.

It was a relatively small claim - fee's of Circa 130 and then interest of around 430. They offered slightly below this but a more than reasonable sum. I guess the low value made settling simpler in the end.

Also should have added - they suddenly gave me another £50.00 as compensation because they had charged me at some point when they shouldn't have - and also (allegedly, not seen the evidence yet) sent £50.00 to lowlifes to knock off the debt as a refund.
