Hi

We own a business and have a couple of staff, but have had some post in the name of someone not on our staff and not us.

Our apprentice opened the post in error one day and we found debt demands from a catalogue company

we contacted them and advised them of this.

now the letters are starting again but don't know what to do and are not sure how it can affect our business or us.

This is nothing to do with us

really could do without the stress of it all as my wife has been ill and this is making things worse.

Please can anyone help or suggest how to stop this.

Much appreciated.

I take it these are letters from debt collection agencies?

if so

they ARE NOT BAILIFFS

and have

NO SUCH LEGAL POWERS

most certainly CANNOT do ANYTHING to you or harm your business.

simply write on the envelope

NOT AT THIS ADDRESS

and put it back in the postbox

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Yes debt collectors at the moment. But unsure really how this could progress to be honest.

It can't. The debt is a personal matter concerned with the person named on the letter. If that is not you then no case can EVER proceed nor can any negative information be registered against you or your company.

Do as DX says and sent the letter back marked as Not Known At This Address. If you wish to elaborate on that then put the letter in another envelope and enclose a note to the effect that they are writing to a business address and the person that their correspondence is addressed to is not you, and you have no knowledge of that person whatsoever. Demand that they remove your address from their records and state that no further correspondence will be entered into.

Who is the DCA?

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.
