Finally realised that we ( my wife and I ) have a debt problem after many years on the hamster wheel of borrowing to pay off existing debt.

In the process of speaking to debt management charities to get things started,

any advise gratefully accepted.

For those of you interested I will post progress good and bad as I have read some posts on this site that have helped with deciding to take the first step.

Debt management is ok if they are free

But they won't check the legality of the debt

You may be better to start a new thread for each debt

There may be lots of lemons amongst what you have in front of you

If i have helped in any way hit my star.

any advice given is based on experience and learnt from this site :-)

list your debts here

check they all show on your CRA files.

always CCA request every debt BEFORE it goes in the plan.

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
