2 years ago my self and my husband were really struggling financially.

We applied for housing and council tax benefits and sent the evidence requested.

They sent us a letter back saying they never received evidence and so rejected are claim.

We decided not to pursue it as we had some luck, my husband got a new job with better pay.

But recently 2 years later we find are selfs in a sticky situation again as my husbands hours have been cut.

We are struggling to pay the rent and we have 3 children.

Would we be able to re apply for housing Benifits and council tax Benifits now or can you only apply once.

Sorry if this sounds a silly question.

Any advice much appreciated thanks in advance.

There should be no problem at all. Just make sure you photocopy and get receipts for everything you give them. My local council are notorious for supposedly not receiving evidence of income etc.

If you can, I've found it's really helpful to go in and personally hand in evidence (or get someone close to you to). This way they should scan in the originals there and then, and give you a receipt in writing. You keep the originals, and the council have absolutely no deniability.

I realise it's not easy or always possible, but it has ensured a timely and correct response from the council in my case several times.
