I have sent both standard letters and received standard replies, now Hsbc have phoned and i managed to put them off foir 1/2 hr. I'm abit scared to be honest. My claim is for £277.50 all unauthorised overdraught charges.

Any advice?

don't be worried, just remember that you are totally in the right.

If you don't feel comfortable speaking to them when they call, just tell them that you would have all responses in writing. Thats what I told them when I spoke to them about my unauthorised overdraft fees, I told them that I did not wish to discuss the matter over the telephone and would rather deal with the matter in written correspondence.

I, tend to get rattled when I speak to the bank over the phone, I don't know what it is, but I always feel confident for the first few minutes of the conversation, then I start to feel intimidated by them (not to mentioned bullied). Just tell them straight - you want their response in writing.

good luck, let us know how you get on, :-)

Wahooooooooo!

They phoned to negotiate (offering £250) and I said I was only going to settle for a Full refund of £277.50. He said if that's the case, they will credit my account with £277.50, (not admitting liability - of course!)

Result!

Thanks for all your support, I feel GREAT!!

I did record the conversation too, I think I may go and watch it now. . .

I've just watched my conversation with the bank (how sad?) It's great, I really didn't have to say much, just listen to the hsbc guy doing all the "ummm" and "errrr" and backpedalling, say "no, i want a full refund" once and that's it.

No need to feel intimidated at all.

Don't give up
