Is it classed as fraud if a LL gives you multiple what he classes as 'receipts for work carried out', expecting me to pay for them. Then when I do a little digging, the companies on those receipts tell me they are just estimates and the work was never carried out?

I have a total £713 worth of 'estimates' which I have proof haven't been done.

Hello there.

It's very likely to be fraud if the works were never carried out.

Fraud occurs where a false representation is dishonestly made with a view by the person making a representation to make a gain, or to cause another to make a loss.

Yeah, well to cut a long story short, hes trying to get me to pay for work that hasn't been done. He got the quotes then gets his little friend to go in and do the work for next to nothing. Not that the work needed to be done in the first place mind!

In my eyes thats certainly fraudulent.

If the 'receipts' were in fact provided as evidence of likely claim against T deposit for damage, then no fraud. LL is entitled to submit reasonable commercial estimates of repair, unless they were accompanied by note stating 'here are receipts/invoices for work carried out'.

LL can use whom he likes for repairs, the claim is compensation for LLs 'loss or damage'. An adj will decide what is 'reasonable' if it goes to ADR or SCC..
