Hi maxxer

I bought a shirt for £ 90 from Kingston , without trying it at the store and after a week I wanted to wear it but realised that he had a rip in the arms, I took it to tkmaxx kew retail park and the refused to accept it and said its not theirs, and when I asked them to call Kingston and check trough there security camera, their reply is its not possible to check, I called kingston store and they have said the same thing, I was under the impression that security camera was suppose to record anything that happens in the store especially I have the receipt and the time of the purchases, so it will be easy for them to go back and check!!

Can you tell me please if what they are saying is true or they just don't want to make an effort?and aslo can you advise me on what I can do about it?

because I feel that I have been wronged and Im really cross with them, also tkmaxx is one of my favourite shop for bargains, and I would like to keep it that way.

Many thanks

Loss prevention are there for just loss prevention.

They won't look back on cctv, as its there for crime prevention, not customer services.

Every time the lp's look back, they have to be able to give a valid reason.

Phone customer services.

HI

Im so pleased for you to have won your case against RLP who use methods to make money from people, my brother who suffers with mental health problems had top plea guilty today in court for returning items to tkmaxx who they have claimed is not theirs, for the simple reason that he could not remember and was confused about what have happen and he was conditionally discharged by the magistrate, he has also received a debt collection letter from RLP of the amount of £335 and to be honest I don't think they deserve to be paid anything at all let alone the correct amount of £144 which they have said is the cost of the Item. As when I have read their statement, there was a lot of discrepancy and no CCTV footage was provided beside descriptions of my brother when he was in the store.

Can you please advise me on how to deal with RLP as I want my brother to simply ignore them, however my concern is that they may call around the house of my brother and cause him stress, knowing that after my brother was arrested in the store he tried to commit suicide, been so scared and confused about the hall situation.

Please please advise me on what to do and where to seek help to shut them up.

Many thanks

As far as I am aware, nobody has ever been to a persons door. If, on the miniscule chance, anyone did, your brother can tell them to go away-and they have to. If they fail to do so, get him to call the pllice.

RLP say they treat vulnerable people differently. This, I am yet to see.

Follow all the advice you have seen on the forum. Do not get into a letter tennis operation, this just causes stress. Tell them ONCE that you are aware of the Oxford judgement and that no pocket money will be forthcoming

Refund fraud is delt with by a team of specialist investigators, not by the store security themselves.

There needs to be at least 3 occasions when product that is returned, isn't what was purchased. (So as to avoid any 'mistakes' being made by the person returning).

Each and every 'offence' has to have full cctv of the purchase, and the refund - clearly showing what colour, shape, size etc garment was purchased, and the same for the return - showing that it is different than the item purchased. You've also got to ask youself, how did the price ticket manage to detatch itself from the correct garment, and re attach itself to the incorrect one.

A fair few people were silly enough to return stuff that simply wasn't ever tk maxx stock - for instance 'george at asda' stock. If the cashier doesn't check the inside garment label (and why should they, its got a tkmaxx price ticket attached), then the refund could go through. If its discovered afterwards, then loss prevention are informed, cctv reviewed, and a case started with the investigations team. If it happens again, then a statement is written, and the police called in.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have worked for TK -Maxx til recently[edited].While working there you learn there tricks,as a customer service roll you are told not to except anything without proof of purchase or that is beyond the refund period, some managers will let you get around this if you just need a different size and they have the item in stock. However some are really trying for there store targets and percentages [edited].The way round it is to say you will contact head office, they wont give you the phone number but a local C.A.B or trading standards will. Most managers will back down and refund or replace item with reciept or not as it reflects bad on there satisfaction targets. If they refuse head office will send you a replacement or refund you, despite what they say instore.I have seen it many times, customers returning things which I had sold to them weeks sometimes even months ago,and in some cases obviously used ie; worn out shoes, used kitchen pots etc, etc. You would think they would'nt stand a chance, but mention you will get head office number and bam, your refunded.

Also other tricks are the price ticketing,if you shop at TK-Maxx you will know the white stickers are full price and all the same for the same item.WRONG.Now and again the prices vary depending what the week code is for that delivery(the week code is the number 1-52 in the top right hand corner)Look through items carefully and you can get a good deal before they are even on sale, they do try to hide the cheaper ones at the back. The same goes for red sticker items, sometimes items are a missed markdown,so check the labels,if the item you want has a 13 on the right side and lets say it £5.00,now you find the same item with a week 12 and its £8.00 then its a missed markdown and why pay more, some prices vary as in the white sticker depending on when they arrive at the store. However all markdown items from the same department or same item should have the same week code on the sticker.

As for TK-Maxx selling fakes, its not entirely true[edited] and fakes do get through,it does'nt happen often but it does happen cough cough...Piere Cardin boxer shorts are a big and suprisingly obvious culprit. These items are usually removed sharpish when notice is sent to the store, but by then some may be sold. There are usually sheets up in staff areas that tell us of recalls for various reasons, however I think they should be displayed for customers when it involves certain circumstances so they are aware.

And lastly dont be fooled by the inflated rrp's,some of the items are exclusively for TK-Maxx and can not be brought anywhere else, there own brand if you will, Knayton Hall is a good example with high rrp's printed so people[edited].Some items are even cheap items from other stores that are inflated to seem more expensive,if you pay attention to barcodes and labels you will spot some interesting things when they slip through.
