I split with my partner which ended violently, took a couple of days a/leave, then decided that it would be impossible for me to continue working at my company as my partners Mum was a senior manager there. I wrote resigning and requesting all final matters be handled through a third party as I had been imtimidated by the family member. And here we are nearly six weeks since the letter and still no money which is in cheque form. What can I do. They havent contacted me by phone, they received the letter I know because a second copy was handed to them. I am so frustrated, surely tey cant do this. Any advice would be welcome.

Hello there.

I think you should be able to take action on this and hope the guys will be around later with suggestions for you.

Did you give the right amount of notice according to your contract when you resigned?

Hi there

If you resigned without notice, you're only entitled to payment for the days worked and any outstanding annual leave entitlement. So, the best thing to do is write to the company, give them 7 days to make payment, and then refer the matter to an employment tribunal for an unlawful deduction from wages claim. You only have three months from dismissal to make the claim, so I would recommend moving quickly!!

Hi,

Thanks to all, I have taken the bull by the horns sent someone to the company for the lasttime and insisted they hand the cheque over or take legal action. Worked, got the cheque, so thanks to all, shame some firms cant play by the rules. Thanks again for the advice.
