hi. I got myself in to a really bad spiraling debt after seperation from my wife. im really struggling to cope with it all right now. just to make things worse - hsbc decided to charge me today - £100 for "administraion fees for settgin up an informal overdraft" then a further £120 for bouncing 6 items. i cant even afford to eat. is there anyone here who can help?

Give HSBC a phone, tell them you are having Financial difficulties and are suffering hardship, ask them to refund some charges and put a hold on your account whilst you try to re-pay some of the debt.

I did this with Santander a few months ago and they returned £150 to my account and promised not to apply any more charges for the period of one month, I did have more charges in the following weeks but they kept to their word and did not charge me.

 

Very much doubt they will do it again for me but it's always worth giving them a phone.

There is lots you can do. The first thing we need to know in order to help is what you owe, to whom you owe it and how old the debt is? Have any of them been passed to DCA's? Have you any CCJ's etc.... The more you can tell us, the more we can help.
