I know everyone appears to be in the same boat, but after being with Lloyds/Tsb for over 9 years and having so called 70% NCD, I was supprised(that's putting it mildly) to get my renewal which told me that my fully comp had doubled in price (or almost).

As I paid monthly and paid a little interest my payments were £28.00 a month but know they wanted £47.50 a month and overall the cost had risen from £303.00 to £575.75.

When I phoned to complain the girl said she was sorry and that must have been sent by mistake and that a new quote should be less.after she came back with a new quote it was less by £25.00 and than I said but you would not have taken that off if I had just renewed to which there was no reply.

Anyway I told her not to renew when due in May and that I had gone elsewhere and saved myself £198.00.

She did not sound very happy.

Anyway I could have saved even more but if I don't know of a company then I won't use them so went with RAC which cost me £377.50 as a one off payment and as I already have breakdown cover with them it made sense.(they use the good old Coop Insurance lol).

I can't understand why the insurance companies give out no claims protection except that they make extra money until a claim comes in then us poor sods who never claim (and I do less than 2k miles a year as I only use car for shopping etc but I do need it to carry my Mobilty scooter).

Why should we have to pay for others who claim ? Years ago when you had no claims your insurance went down, but because people burn out their own cars (and yes we all know this goes on) and race around smashing their cars up, we end up as usual paying for it.

If you are not happy with your renewal quote then, as you did, go with someone else. Why bother getting upset about it and complaining?

I never accept my renewal as 99% of the time there is a cheaper deal to be had. You don't owe the insurance company any loyalty.

There are plenty of comparison websites out there that can save you money. "Simples", as they say.
