Serious damp problem ignored by Housing Association - who to complain to?

Hello!

 

My mother is having serious damp issues in the kitchen, bad enough the walls are going black and wallpaper is peeling off.

 

She has been complaining to the Housing association for months now, and they have still not sent someone to at least inspect the problem - when this is happening, who can she go do, that is "above" the housing association, and can order them in? Its pretty clear the HA has no clue of what they are doing, and the kitchen I suspect is in a bad enough state and danger to health that a private landlord would be prosecuted.

 

The kitchen units are falling apart probably from the damp, the kitchen sink is coming away from the wall and its rapidly becoming a house of horrors, with the plaster crumbling off the walls - but the damp is the main issue, but getting them to come and do anything just is not happening.

How has it been communicated to them ?

Has it been done in writing at any stage ?

Is housing benefit being paid ?

She needs to contact the housing office at the local Council.

And possibly environmental health.

I would contact the council, possibly environmental health. Mould is never healthy and black mould can give off nasty spores than can be a serious danger to health.

Environmental Health is definitely the place to go to for help.

lots of telephone calls, and she is not on housing benefit.
