Found this on the CMEC website:

From April 2010, child maintenance will be fully disregarded when calculating all out-of-work benefits. This will allow parents with the main day-to-day care to keep every penny of their child maintenance payments, where maintenance is paid.

Was anyone else aware of this?

 OOOh, how could that be true on income support. Dont they take all but 20.00 a week. Lovely if true, would instantly make me 400.00 better off a month, so to be honest cant see it happening. But happy to be proved wrong. When first paid direct to me they told me it was all mine and I recoreded the calls, it was later revealed not to be true and then counted. I was told if paid direct from csa not counted if direct from partner had to be declared I believe it was now, that was by income support. Obviously later counted barring 20.oo a week.

So maybe they were planning a future change?

Will wait and see xxxxx

My goodness found it under cmec website new changes. Your right, have to behave now, can it be a mistake, still get benefits and tax credits with no affect. Maybe that does explain the error that happened to me last year. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

You gem, animal lover finding that, its new to most here I bet xxx

Imagine how many people could get their kids into nursery with this extra money. Could get single parents of benefits or even inspire education where child care would be an issue.

Not to put on a downer but why have dwp not told us of this with new notices of claims?

It's true. It is in this quarter's issue of touchbase; I have the paper copy but the online copy isn't operational yet. Will include it in the benefit news as soon as the link is available.

My advice is based on my opinion, my experience and my education. I do not profess to be an expert in any given field. If requested, I will provide a link where possible to relevant legislation or guidance, so that advice provided can be confirmed and I do encourage others to follow those links for their own peace of mind. Sometimes my advice is not what people necesserily want to hear, but I will advise on facts as I know them - although it may not be what a person wants to hear it helps to know where you stand. Advice on the internet should never be a substitute for advice from your own legal professional with full knowledge of your individual case.

Please do not seek, offer or produce advice on a consumer issue via private message; it is against

forum rules to advise via private message, therefore pm's requesting private advice will not receive a response.

Yes its true, from April 10th all maintenance will be disregarded for I.S purposes, we are running scans to find everyone who is having maintenance taken into account on their I.S claims, this will be removed in their benefit week that includes the 12th April, :)

Will it effect anything else mikey. As in will still get housing benefit and child tax credits.

Thanks. Obviously this makes us a lot better off. xx

No maintenance will not effect your tax credits or housing benefit You will get to keep all of it :)

Its been unfair for years to all Income Support customers who claim tax credits for their children and receive maintenance, in respect that we dont pay for the children but we take their

maintenance into account against their mothers I.S.

Happy days its ending soon, a lot of people should be better off, you will receive a letter soon Lou giving your new I.S amount,
