Naughty, naughty...I think. On my travels I have wandered past fredpay and noticed this:

Make payments securely by debit and/or credit card

Given that Freddies are a bunch of debt traders etc why would they be soliciting payment byCC? Plainly in breach etc etc.

Perhaps someone on the receiving end of these philanthropists might like to make a noise and force them to renegotiate their merchant account? Pricey one that. ;)

This isn't as simple as it sounds - although it is probably still suspect.

Fredrickson International is one of a group of linked companies. So is Fredpay. Hence there is, primie face, a distinct 'gap' between them.

Might be worth investigating this pile of spaghetti.

I really do appreciate all those 'thank you' emails - I'm glad I've been able to help. Apologies if I haven't acknowledged all of them.

You can also ding my gong if you prefer. :)

On the main page of their website it says you can pay by credit card. A clear breach of OFT guidelines if I ever saw one.

Take a peek...

Been digging a bit more and found this.

Fredrickson International Ltd - Bespoke Debt Collection Services

More serious as it's in their "advice" section and states the following...

Quoted from their site....

Being in Debt is not a pleasant experience and we understand that many people are in this situation through no fault of their own. (and tosspot companies like yours make matters worse by your threats of legal action you have no grounds for when you're collecting on behalf of an OC.)

The most important step to make is to acknowledge the problem and not to ignore it, hoping it will just go away – It will not.

On the majority of debts we can accept repayment by pre-agreed instalments and we see it as our job to arrive at a level of repayment which is affordable and will repay the debt in a reasonable period of time.

We offer a variety of ways to make payment including: credit/debit card, Direct Debit, BACS, Standing Order, cheque/postal order and barcode.

This lot sent a paying in slip to me which I ignored chasing a long defunct alleged debt. The original creditors claimed to have written to them to call them off and that the documents must have crossed in the post. I then got a 7 day notice of legal action and nothing happened any further, that was in September of last year.

I really wish this type of company could be closed down and ALL debt collecting be dealt with by the original creditor - wouldnt it make life a lot simpler - no notice of assignment, no deeds of assignment, file referral fees etc etc etc!
