We have a Nationwide mortgage - this is in my husband's name. We started the ball rolling for a transfer of equity - we completed the form and sent it off to Nationwide who promptly cashed the cheque. However, it took a while for their solicitor's to get in touch and during this time we decided we wanted to move house and have put our property on the market. Our mortgage advisor said that there was no point doing the transfer of equity as moving = bigger house = bigger mortgage so my name could be added on the new mortgage application and the transfer of equity at this time is pointless.

We have since contacted both Nationwide and the solicitors advising we did not wish to continue with the transfer of equity. We never paid any fees to the solicitors, however paid £150 to Nationwide [in the form of a cheque sent in with the ToE form]. As far as we are concerned Nationwide have done nothing bar receive the form and cash the cheque, but they are saying they are keeping the £150 because they received the form.

They won't refund this, from where we are they haven't done anything ie why should they keep the money....what can we do or is this really just

£150 lost?

Thanks in advance :)
