Hi

3 Weeks after sending my Subject Access Request letter to Natwest for statements and enclosing a cheque for £10

I received a letter from them requesting payment for £5..

I have just sent that payment in but at the same time I have just lost 3 weeks!!

I've noticed from previous posts that Natwest have either debited £5 from peoples accounts or requested payments for £5.

So it seems Natwest have a standard charge of £5 for this service, you may want to think about that when sending in your letter....

Thanks

Tony

The £5 charge is for copy statements (all of them) usually this is £5 per sheet but they seem to be waiving that at the moment! Its a bit of a merry go round really, the £10 SAR dpa fee is for ALL data held about you, such as letters, written comments by telephone operators etc etc etc! There is still some legal debate over whether statements are actually included in a SAR request, but in practice the answer seems to be yes.

The £10 SAR fee is important because it sets out clearly your determination to pursue your data, the £5 copy statements fee, usually arranged on the phone guarantees receipt of your statements (ok maybe not every time!) I found that when I rang to chase my statements, it was the fact that I had sent a DPA that caused Joyce Tudor to take my request seriously and send my bank statements for £5. Incidentally, they sent me back my £10 SAR fee some time after I had received my statements??

good luck

kate
